Pros

The job is incredibly demanding and you are held to an arguably unreasonable standard, which helps build character and resilience.

Cons

The culture is incredibly toxic. People are outgoing, you're in a posh office, and it can seem really nice from the outside or when you first join. The reality is that there are massive ethical issues and management actively encourage you to lie to candidates and clients in order to close a deal. If all you care about is money and you're willing to work excessively long hours/ step on others toes to get it, this job may be for you. Last point, you aren't gaining any transferable skills that can be used to develop your career. You could go into a junior sales role and work your way up if you get out soon enough but be very careful as that's about it. One of the managers at Robert Half described it to me as "golden handcuffs" since you don't like the job but you're paid too much to leave and start from square one.

Pros

Success with other departments - just not in mine

Cons

Complete bait and switch. I accepted this position under one manager, only to find out after resigning from my previous job that I would be reporting to someone else entirely. There was no meaningful onboarding, no training materials, and no support system in place. My manager openly stated that there was no monetary value in helping me succeed and made little effort to train or develop me. Requests to shadow and learn the business were dismissed in favor of keeping me on the phones. Instead of being set up for success, I felt actively prevented from growing. HR was equally disappointing. I raised legitimate concerns and never received a response. The organization talks about development and support, but my experience suggested otherwise. Joining this company was one of the biggest professional mistakes I have made.
