Pros

Made some decent friends. Got a chance to network with nurse staff and other ambulance companies. Good start for a fresh out of school EMT.

Cons

It's all about the money with Royal. And not yours. They do not care about their employees, patients, ambulances, or equipment. Your family member will be treated as a dollar sign. Equipment is reused on patients. Management has full run and will do whatever they want without any regard to proper or ethical business practice. Management is unfamiliar with county policies and are heavy handed with discipline and "closed door talks". Turnover is high and hiring happens too often. There is no skills tests of any kind. I have seen many EMTs who I would forbid to touch anyone I know, working there. The supervisors operate in a constant shroud of secrecy while they claim to be transparent. The Co owner of the company is the HR rep. This makes people very hesitant to approach with any issues. Nothing can be said to anyone without repercussion. Their "anonymous surveys" are not anonymous and you will be punished for anything that they don't like. No Paramedics, Advanced Life Support, and no way to advance your career besides FTO (which is a total joke because it is given to the company men. Not experienced based.) Education is non existent and you have to pay to keep all of your certifications current. Beware of Royal Ambulance.
