Pros

Good benefits, most people are friendly (but demanding)

Cons

Lousy pay, understaffed department, tech leads end up doing entry level help desk calls 95% of the time, no path for advancement, lack of adherence to IT policies and enforcement of rules causes every department to practice "IT free for all" where they will buy what they want without consultation from IT, and expect full support from centralized IT, lack of communication between medical school IT, hospital IT, and Rutgers core IT, place constantly has "no money" to spend on IT but we see money wasted elsewhere in abundance

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
