Pros

Money and benefits are decent however the raises are not commensurate with the cost of living increases nor commensurate with the number of hours an employee has to work each week.

Cons

SAIC was one of the most stressful companies I ever worked for. They demand you put in many hours including weekends and do not appreciate all the hard work you do for them. And pay raises aren't even close to the cost of living increases. Lack of communication and leadership among management keeps lower ranking employees confused and stressed about their work. The company should demand that every manager take management courses and learn how to fairly, nicely, calmly and effectively manage their employees. The management style is mostly dictatorial and demanding in nature. There is no "team" concept with positive oversight and "positive" help and feedback from management. Managers tend to intimidate, control, manipulate, condescend and micromanage employees. There is little or no mentoring or chance for advancement. It is the most negative corporation I worked for in how employees are treated. There is no work- family balance at all because the company demands employees to work a lot of hours without additional compensation or even accolades for the hard work. Managers don't seem to consider employees workloads and add additional employees to even out the workloads. Managers are not united in direction, changes or processes so employees usually have to figure things out on their own with people doing things differently. There is very little acceptance of ideas for process change instead you just use the processes as provided even if they are ineffective and inefficient. The paycheck is okay and if you don't mind working under a lot of stress, pressure, poor management, lots of hours and in a negative environment, then work at SAIC.

Pros

Decent learning and development opportunities. Some really passionate and hard working people on your teams. Performance management is relaxed and flexible.

Cons

Benefits are wildly expensive for a company of their size. Was laid off with 1.5 months notice right before Christmas. Months prior to layoff was forced to use my PTO due to gov shutdown, but was still getting my full paycheck during shutdown. I believe this was so that they could diminish our PTO banks so they would have to pay out less when they laid us off. Laid off with zero severance despite being at company for almost 4 years and being in good standing. No efforts from management to make connections for a new internal role despite being strongly encouraged to search internally. New CEO Jim is not personable at all. Gives heavy corporate and cog in a machine vibes. Rumor has it that in the defense contracting industry, SAIC will be faring rather poorly within next 1-4 years.
