SCAN has been on a downward trend for the past few years. Executive leadership has been a revolving door, with constant turnover over the last two years while the company continues to lay off employees. It's difficult to keep track of how many VPs and directors have left, and the organization still doesn't have a permanent COO.
Leadership recently held a meeting focused on improving the company's culture, but it had the opposite effect on morale. Instead of addressing employee concerns or rebuilding trust, the outcome was more rules, less flexibility, and a stronger emphasis on monitoring office attendance. At the same time, the company continues hiring employees in other states while requiring local employees to be in the office multiple days a week, creating a policy that many see as inconsistent and unfair.
Leadership frequently talks about accountability, yet many employees feel there is little accountability when senior leaders make poor decisions. Instead, leadership continues to push AI initiatives and emphasize in-office collaboration, despite many employees believing they were more productive working remotely. Overall, there seems to be a disconnect between leadership's messaging and employees' day-to-day experience, making it difficult to feel optimistic about the company's direction.
It also feels like more effort is put into projecting a positive image externally than addressing the issues employees have been raising internally. The CEO appears to spend more time posting on LinkedIn than taking meaningful steps to improve morale, rebuild trust, or address the concerns that continue to drive employee dissatisfaction.
I would also be cautious about the recent five-star reviews. Many of them are unusually brief, generic, and lack meaningful detail, which makes them seem less authentic. While I can't say whether they're genuine, I wouldn't be surprised if some were encouraged or otherwise not fully representative of the overall employee experience.
