Not the worst but certainly not a place to stay long term - Administrative SP+ Employee Review

Pros

I had some really great co-workers and the office is located in a fantastic downtown DC location. There were also lots of opportunities to work independently and really make the position my own.

Cons

I was hired for one position and almost immediately after I started, the position evolved drastically. I was essentially working three jobs rolled into one while only being compensated for one. I was not permitted to work any overtime but there was also an expectation that all tasks would be completed on time. In addition, the position was non-exempt and hourly, even though I had supervisory duties, but I was still expected to be available during non-business hours via email. It's a very male dominated company and it's nearly impossible to move up as a woman or minority. As a result, in the almost three years I was there, several co-workers resigned and in the months since I've been gone, a few more have left as well. I found the company culture fostered an environment of petty vindictiveness, particularly when people resigned, and those in upper management encouraged gossiping about former employees. In addition, in the years I was there, the company faced multiple wrongful termination lawsuits and I was privy to several questionable hiring, promotion, and termination procedures. The company has a lot of potential but they will continue to have high turnover until they adapt better policies and begin truly valuing their employees that are below the Senior Manager level.
