There is a big issue with micro management at all levels. You are not fully trusted to do the job you were hired for. Most departments do not encourage free thinking and the typical response to a question is “that’s just how it’s always been”. The culture is the total opposite of warm and fuzzy, except when upper management is around. To succeed here it is best to just keep your head down and do as you’re told.
