Pros

Met some good people there who I'm still in contact with.

Cons

I was among the first to ever comment about STV marketing on Glassdoor and after all this time, years, it seems to not have changed at all. Its pretty clear that people continue to be have the very same issues with the very same people that I had all those years ago. That's why there's always a Help Wanted sign hanging on that door. Proposal Managers leave that place disillusioned and even angry at the way they were treated. Proposal management is a stressful endeavor all on its own. The last thing Proposal Managers need are managers breathing down their necks for minutia and creating an environment where its impossible to be effective. The fact that there is even a Regional Marketing Manager from Chicago here stating that the environment, which they admit can be oppressive, encourages people to be at the top of their game, is indicative of how nuts it actually is. And its no secret that most Proposal Managers don't leave entirely on their own, but are pushed out by being belittled, ostracized and just plain disrespected on a very basic human level. Some very successful, very respected, and ground breaking Proposal Managers have been chased from that company, only to go on a become superstars. They were threats in STV because great Proposal Managers ALWAYS challenge the status quo. I myself was a star before I got to STV, won a ton at STV even while I was oppressed to the point that I nearly lost my mind, and then went on to become the anchor of a marketing team that took a huge slice of a Government market share over a prolonged period (more than a quarter of the entire market) with an insane hit rate. We also achieved a "perfect" rating on a Corps proposal. Those in this line of work know that's almost impossible to accomplish. But I wasn't good enough for STV? Or was I just really a threat? The Proposal Management Community is well aware of the situation at STV and avoid it like the plaque it is. I personally tell my protégés that whatever they do, don't ever work at STV.
