Pros

I loved my team and some of the employees I worked with. Fast paced department. Many pay increases Can move up quickly

Management was awful. My department had to fend for themselves due to a lack of help. Store director didn't help with anything because he had zero knowledge on the department. Department was timed on everything and he still tried giving us more tasks to do because he didn't want to do it himself. You couldn't talk to him about anything because he would just walk away from you mid conversation. Said they would do things to help and they never did. This location has the environment of a high school and they did nothing to fix it. I worked here for a short period of time but it wasn't short enough. This manager in specifically told me that "I am trying to run a business" not taking into consideration emergency personal events. You can move up quickly because the turnover rate is HIGH. Tried calling out due to being sick and they yelled at me to come in until they could cover my shift. I was here for a year and they went through 3 store directors, but corporate couldn't see that there were issues that needed fixed. If you want to hate your job then I recommend working here. Many times I had to close and come in to open the next day. Scheduling sucked. Didn't have an HR. Constantly changing things with minimal heads up. Employees suck. Everything is dirty and gross. Randomly cut hours. Play favoritism. No lunches. No breaks.

Pros

Nothing at all, only work at Safeway if you're about to be literally homeless

Cons

Genuinely hellish work environment. Management is lazy and absent, customers are the most disrespectful and clueless I have ever encountered. Complete unrealistic labor allocation and expectations. As a PIC, I have to run 9 SCO robots, unlock cases for customers, perform transactions at Customer Service, answer external phone calls, and move freight. Customers rightly get frustrated at the complete lack of care by corporate, and take it out on employees. Management in the morning all skip out on the evening management early every single day, a luxury the closing staff are not allowed.
