Pros

Good advancement oppurtunities, non union benefits are fantastic, a new challenge every day. This is retail so expect to always be hustling.

Cons

Seems like the employees back stage do not actually know what is going on inside of stores. Gatorade displays/firms in late October, soup displays/firms in the middle of summer. They cut back a lot on labor and, obviously, still expect the same expectations which puts a lot on staff, leading to low morale. It is nearly impossible to be able to use your vacation time also due to cutting on labor because all stores are running skeleton crews. Safeway no longer have competitive pay. Plenty of competetors pay more to start while Safeway still starts all new employees at minimum wage unless you get a great recommendation from someone already in the company. Use Safeway as a resume builder if you're looking to make a career in grocery, then get the hell out.
