Pros

Job stability is quite good within IT. Sure, there have been layoffs in the past, but overall, compared to many companies, Safeway does a good job in ensuring that they understand how much of a workforce they need to employ.

Cons

The culture is pretty old school. For some reason, Steve Burd thinks that wearing ties and suits equates to being professional and "feeling important". Unfortunately, he ignores the detailed studies that indicate the contrary. The culture also suffers from the "good ole boy" syndrome. If you've been here for thirty years and you're a VP, then you get anything you want. I also feel like I'm working at a Texas ranch with George Bush.

Pros

Friendly and helpful colleagues, weekly pay and flexible schedule

Cons

When it is busy, it is very busy. Lunch/Break may get pushed back or even denied in extreme cases because there is no one to cover for you.
