Pros

For the longest time I enjoyed the company culture at Salem. I enjoyed the office atmosphere and the free and friendly people who worked with me. Recently, though, the company has fallen on hard times. Employees have been laid off and the office environment is far more dark and serious. We are beginning to transition from an office space of camaraderie to an office space of dog-eat-dog to succeed attitudes.

Cons

I am afraid of losing my position every day. This company is continuing to lose money in the stock market and employees have been laid off. Entire markets and regions of the company have been restructured or sold. Every day my fellow colleagues are worried that someone around us will be the next person to be laid off. Salem is focused on the wrong aspect of business by attempting to transition itself into a digital marketing agency in a world of well-established competitors. The bread-and-butter radio operations of the company feel their existence is threatened as our stock continues to plummet, employees of all experience levels are laid off, and markets are sold off.

Pros

Great supportive local environment, people called to work there to support the mission.

Cons

Corporate digital leadership is disjointed and systems are chaotic. Actual delivered campaigns are inevitably flawed and mis managed. Retaliatory, narcisstic, abusive corporate digital leadership. Constant systems changes and zero assistance in navigating. More and more digital agency and other jobs outsourced to Asia. Salespeople are exhausted and burned out by programs failing. Zero accountability taken by Ad Ops team for mistakes or extrene lag time in responses from internal automated systems. Salary cuts to 'help the company' plays on the mission minded employees, taking advantage of employees good intentions by underpaying them compared to industry. No 401K match.
