Pros

Reasonable benefit packages. Good sales pitch, and their initial on-boarding is all about getting you into the company culture thought process. Openness, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.

Cons

Company wants you to act and operate like you are an owner of the company - however they do not value or treat you like one unless you are in management. Company touts "off at 12:30pm on Fridays" but this translates to longer work days every other day of the week and a very strict PTO and Flex Time system that does not provide a good environment for those who need it and it is not evenly enforced either. Company has a program to get a majority of their front-line workers to Work From Home - however the caveat is that if you do Work From Home you have fewer advancement opportunities. Management does not actually want people to question the reasons "why" policies or procedures are being done the way they are. They want to be able to give a half-answer or obtuse bland rationale that does not directly answer the question. When presented with concerns about potential risks associated with the way the work is being done - it is waived off because the company hasn't experienced any complaints related to it. Projects between departments appear haphazard and do not adequately reflect the way projects should be handled in any company. Procedures are not well documented and there is not one single resource for all departments that complete any processing work and there is poor documentation in company systems due to technological limitations and poor leverage of existing systems. Work methodology to encourage responsibility of leaders for their decisions creates an atmosphere that ends up being silo'd and not cross-functional, which is opposite of the company goals. "Ease of doing business" to improve customer service should be equally met with new ways to continue to document activity without compromising the integrity of the company in the process - which is not done. Company has processes and procedures for peer-reviewed quality auditing, however Management does not have a high opinion or utilization of this process, does not directly discuss performance with employees unless asked directly for it - and there is a lack of accountability for the actions of the manager or director that is visible to employees. And finally - when management made a misstep and it was brought to HR - Neither the Management nor the HR individuals actually adhered to the Culture. Management denied it happened or tried to re-characterize it, and HR sided with Management over Employee. Any attempts at finding an alternative to stay with the company were met with little actual attempt on their part. Which means the culture is a sham and this company isn't worth your time if you want a place that will actually value you as an individual and they are willing to throw away their own values in a heartbeat.

Pros

SFG has changed over the years but definitely for the better. I trust leadership and enjoy everyday working for this amazing company. There is of course office politics which you’ll have everywhere but if you keep doing what you’re supposed to be doing then you’ll have no issues. ESOP, early out on Fridays, culture, flexible schedules, system enhancements including productivity improvements and genuine conversations with people you work with are some of the top favorites on my list. Plenty of SFG employees have left over the years due to their own personal lives/needs but a lot of them end up coming back for plenty of reasons but in reality it’s because we are happy working here.

Cons

None that comes to mind.
