Naturally, referrals from our employees’ trusted networks to attract and hire top talent is a key aspect of talent acquisition and is very common to any industry. Referrals is just one way we get qualified candidates, we encourage candidates to apply directly to any position we post on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Twitter, SanDisk.com or other job boards. At the end of the day, we strive to implement a competitive hiring strategy and hire the most highly qualified candidates, regardless of how we come into contact with them.
Regarding our success with our estimates, we invest heavily into R&D including in the enterprise business and while we may have missed expectations the past couple quarters, this is a long-term investment for us. In fact, we have built a $650M enterprise business since 2011 and have acquired four companies in the last four years.
Overall, the majority of our revenue is selling solution- based products rather than raw commodities. This is reflected in our Q1 gross margin of 43%, which is well above commodity range and it is typical of technology companies (including semi-conductors) to sell to and through large customers.
