Pros

Salary is somewhat better than average

Cons

Opinions as follows: Compensation package not too good Comp-time appears actually to be a way to avoid paying overtime (and it's limited too) - don't get paid over 40 hrs/week even when am requested to work in excess of 40 Company perks are almost non-existent (not even free coffee - get stuck paying for visitors' coffee too) No mileage compensation for frequent visits to distant sites (people driving up to 100 miles each way) Short notice transfers with low compensation Employees with many years with the company often still at near-entry-level jobs New hires not mentored (lots of talk about training & mentoring, but seems to be no basis in reality) Lots of talk about 'quality' but behind the scenes seems to be lots of shortcuts right down to what appear to be NRC violations such as non-qualified reviewers doing review work with qualified reviewers simply cosigning without having time to review - seems mostly about cranking out report after report to make money Doesn't seem to adhere to EEOC regs behind the scenes Backbiting & backstabbing seems rampant between employees, management, and even behind clients' backs Claims of FBI background checks appear to be outsourced, 'cheesy' commercial background checks Seems to make veiled threats to employees to prevent speaking out Not much employee recognition at most levels Seem to be a lot of HR complaints Lots of transitional problems between old hires, management, & new hires Luck of the draw as to whether you'll work with a hostile &/or poorly managed group or a decent group (company seems to look the other way as long as the money flows) Very limited industry Most of the work consists of endless reports that seem more suited as admin tasks - very little real technical/engineering work Bogged down in almost daily meeting after meeting which seem to accomplish little real work Appears proposals which aren't supposed to be billed per clients request seem to be billed into other parts of projects Company appears to be all about image but behind the scenes seems more about CYA, filling in the squares, and money

Felt like a number, not an individual employee

Pros

Decent pay and interesting projects that allow for good professional development.

Cons

Absolutely horrendous work-life balance. I have been at the company for almost 20 years and their lack of support and flexibility for parents is incredibly disappointing. Going to the office requirements are unrealistic with little kids, and some of the newly minted managers are on a power trip, micromanaging high performers and quoting pto policies if you need to run 30min errands midday.
