We follow a performance cycle where in we share the feedback with employees on their performance, attitudes and behavior. When any of these performance criteria does not align with the company we give a chance to the employee to improve their performance through our Performance improvement plan or we let them know of the change required in their attitude/ behavior. This practice is not specific to a particular team but applicable to all employees at scientific games. When we do not see a desired change in the employee as identified in his/her performance even after few months,we have to let them go. Hope this helps in understanding how high performing companies work.

Pros

Great work/life balance, reliable teamwork and support from management, opportunities for growth and exposure to new skills.

Cons

Coaching/overseeing a team in itself has a set of cons, which is what I primarily handle on a daily basis. This comes with any job, but you will have people on your team who need to improve on things such as lack of communication, lack of effort, no work ethic, and lack of skills. Motivating them can be difficult at times, and then you always seem to have a few who do things to avoid work. An accumulation of all these factors subsequently creates more, unnecessary, and redundant work for us. These types of people tend to eliminate themselves out over time due to poor performance and/or quit.
