Pros
I love being a nurse and that helped me endure the ugly politics. Read all the reviews. You will see a theme.
Cons
Read all the reviews on this site. The same theme. BAD management. Corporate culture of bullying, retaliation and targeting employees. You will NEVER get fair treatment once targeted. After 16 years, I have found a healthy Department in the Scripps System. Many of us are "refugees" who fled other Departments. Don't waste 16 years of your life. I know of nurses from 6 other Departments in the system that experienced what I wrote below. I have worked in numerous Departments and have found 2 that are functional. There is NO protection. No union and I am not even big on Unions. Every Refugee has same story. Toxic work environments. You can tell which Departments are the worst because they have jobs posted week after week. We fled departments that had the following. Lazy team, Management missing and playing favorites, if you speak up you will be Written up. Double standards.Catering to MDs and not backing nurses. True story. MD didn't know computer charting, refused to use the help line for assistance, delayed patient care because no orders and the nurse was harassed by Management because the doctor complained about the nurse. Turn the table. If nurse showed up and didn't know basic requirement of the job, I doubt anyone would ever suggest it was somehow the doctor who was the problem. Toxic, toxic, toxic.
