Starting salary and position are good, challenging work
Cons
Lack of direction from upper management in SAS SSD and an overall lack of pay increases or promotions for 3-4 years. It seems that major changes in the organization come every 6 months or so and there's no real sense that anyone knows what's going on beyond political maneuvering.

Toxic AF.
Everybody seems to lower to 60% effort because the risk of getting tired is immense. If you give 100% and have to take a break and someone sees, the big boss will yell with a grumpy neurotic southern old man voice. Trust me, it is very unpleasant.
If you are male, don't get hopes up for a promotion if there are any eligible girls. If it isn't done on purpose, then the general culture of cattiness and gossip will accomplish it anyway.
