Techinical Support. Challenging but rewarding if you allow it to be. - Technical Support Engineer Seagate Technology Employee Review

Pros

Management is very hands off. If you like a micro-management style or a "hand holding" style, this is not the type of environment for you. The plus side of this type of management is the fact that you are given the freedom to experiment with different projects to better your surroundings. The people on the staff are great and are willing to help. The culture of the support staff is laid back yet productive. The exposure you get in this position is very rewarding. You will be supporting all sorts of platforms and software. This is a great place to get a foot hold on all sorts of areas.

Cons

Being in the technical support staff with Evault is challenging in that there is a constant flow of tickets and there are not enough people staffed to meet the requirements of provided premier support. The average ticket count on one's plate will be 25 - 35 tickets. You might feel stretched thin and wish you could focus your skills in fewer areas. In the future, if more people are hired, this might be a possibility.

Pros

Great technology for the era of AI. Stock is doing well.

Cons

High performers have been laid off based on market/biz unit goals. Outsourcing/derisking is a thing lately.

Pros

Fast paced workplace. Lots of data to master SQL and data analysis

Cons

Toxic AF. Everybody seems to lower to 60% effort because the risk of getting tired is immense. If you give 100% and have to take a break and someone sees, the big boss will yell with a grumpy neurotic southern old man voice. Trust me, it is very unpleasant. If you are male, don't get hopes up for a promotion if there are any eligible girls. If it isn't done on purpose, then the general culture of cattiness and gossip will accomplish it anyway.
