SEER Interactive was one of the most stressful, dysfunctional agencies I have ever been a part of. This is why I, along with a handful of others, actively left after about a year. Describing how SEER currently functions as “Clowns running the show” couldn’t be a more accurate description. During one of my first months working at SEER we had an emergency meeting where we learned that a couple people were being let go. During the meeting someone turned to me and said, “is this your first one?” I had no idea what they were talking about, first what? Apparently these meetings where people got fired randomly happened every few months. Like clockwork, about three months later another person was let go. Then a few months after that, a manager let go. I left on my own accord because I learned early on that SEER was not the company that I thought it was. They do a really good job of highlighting all the fun they have. Yes, their marketing videos are shiny and yes, they go to Six Flags once a year (as a sidenote: SEER, please for the love of God, STFU about Six Flags). But please know, that what they don’t tell you is that they work you to the bone. I was so emotionally and physically exhausted (which HR apparently refers to as “being challenged”) that some days I just needed to go in a corner and cry before pushing up my sleeves and getting back to work. This continued after I repeatedly asked for help from management, without any success. Also, several my colleagues began taking prescription medication just so they could get to sleep at night. Still thinking about applying to SEER? Well: If you want to rarely (if ever) take vacation…then SEER is the place for you. If you want to work in a cliquey, dramatic environment where how much to adhere to the “SEER WAY” directly impacts your job security…then SEER is the place for you. If you want to work at a place where you give it your all every day, often working for 10-12 hours on average for sometimes very difficult clients, only to abruptly learn that you’re being let go for no reason…then SEER is the place for you. If you are looking for a revolving door, have no marketing experience, and are looking to be on the job hunt again within the year….then SEER is the place for you. If you’re looking to be overworked and unpaid, burn out quickly, and literally never get a raise for the next 5 years…then SEER is the place for you. All of my fellow coworkers from SEER who’ve quit or been laid off in the past year (there’s about 5-10 of us now who’ve actively left) are working for amazing agencies, with “truly” great culture and from time-to-time, we chat about how we all felt lied to, and swindled by SEER’s promises during the interview process. As a sidenote, I would encourage you to question and take a deep look at any positive review of SEER on this site. Any review from a current employee that reads, “Cons: not being able to stay at work longer” seems perfectly honest, legit and organic…right?
