Pros

A few great staff members. I had a lot of good things to say about this place in the beginning but just like one of the cna’s said to me the first day I started I met her on the elevator she said (just give it time, this place it terrible), I told her nothing is perfect and I was there to grow, stay and learn. Boi was I wrong

Cons

Micromanaging, complacent, disgruntle, gossipy, sometimes no support, high turnover rate due to transferring patients 2 a day 2x’s a day takes the bulk of the day, turn and reposition lights turned on are no consecutive, when 4 cna’s beware that 1 will be cancelled which will make the job that much more harder, no help with passing trays (should not have to ask for that) or feeding and when they do it’s like, they do it as a favor and o you, lol… they call it a “hospital” but really it’s a Nursing Home (LTACH) lol…and they gossip like water running, some cna’s complain when things don’t go their way ( when that life, nothing will go your way, you just deal with it. If a nurse do anything for you they feel like they are doing you a favor and be aware you will work by yourself, you will be pressured to chart your mobility soon as it’s done even if you have to clean or your lights are going off or even if you can’t right away no matter what you have to do and that because they get paid for this (a hunk of change) and don’t get sick because if you do then there’s a point (pink slip) lol was told if you get a certain amount you get fired then was told if you don’t respond to an (code) your fired I was hoping they fired me I would have been glad to go home!, make sure you get the correct information from the right people

Pros

The pay is better than most places- but for a reason. Rehab team fabulous.

Cons

Greedy for-profit system. Benefits are terrible. Unsafe patient assignments. This patient population is critically ill, unstable, and often come with infections, pressure injuries and other conditions they acquired at the sending hospital. Most packed ICUs send patients here when they aren’t progressing fast enough or about to die. You often have 5 of these patients at a time on ventilators, critical drips, complex wound treatments, etc. Due to high staff turnover you are often working with a staff who was rushed through orientation and hired with no acute care experience. Their clinical liaisons often withhold or fail to assess for pertinent information prior to them arriving and they often make promises to the families and patients that are untrue (they get paid bonuses to bring in patients- regardless of their outcomes). If you become a charge nurse expect to have a full patient assignment while rounding with providers, running codes, and doing admissions. Don’t expect support from your local leadership team as their expectations from the regional team are too high and they are also overburdened with responsibilities.
