Pros
Sequoia was one of the happiest, most professional companies I have ever had the pleasure to work for. When I first joined in 2019, I noticed that other Sequoia employees seemed to be good-spirited people. Kind & grounded. Happy even?
"Ok," I thought. "This is odd." But my initial reaction was not entirely surprising to me: I'm a skeptic by nature.
At a company event on my first month at the job, I looked around the room and thought, these people must have drank the proverbial "kool aid" at some point. Right? How else to explain all of this pep? Was everyone a former cheerleader or something? Are they for real?
Well, yes, eventually I realized that Sequoia employed genuine people and that the collective, positive energy WAS REAL. It had to do with the dedication of the HR and Training departments. Not to mention that the CEO of the company was the ONLY CEO of multiple companies I've worked for that was actually present and interested in meeting the employees; a motivating writer and speaker.
But best of all was the on-site team I worked with. Finally, how refreshing to work in an office where personalities weren't clashing, but rather were symbiotic and in-unison. Going into a new environment with a lot of experience, you think you'd know a thing or two about teamwork. But there's always more to learn. And the lessons are valuable, trust me.
I can go on and on with reasons as to why this company stands out amongst the competition. Don't take my word for it. Check out the reviews on social media. They speak for themselves.
Cons
I have no cons.
To the naysayers, I say this:
Some of you have written poor reviews about Sequoia Equities on Glassdoor. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Perhaps you allowed your inner saboteur to misguide you. It happens. We all have that confusing voice in our heads.
But at some point you have to acknowledge something important: patience and kindness will get you farther than being unpleasantly combative and flat-out unkind. The real work happens on the inside.
