Pros

Always a veriety of things to do to never get bored. Pay got better with time or when you would transfer to another store. 401k matching was also very good. Bonus money was good every other year.

Cons

Had been with SW for 20 years. The first 10 years were pretty good. ... the last 10, I became a number and not a person. Lately the company had focused on the stock value so much that they have lost what made them so good. Every year there would be the next push to increase gallons. ... Or gross profit. ... Or sales. The stores budget was not made until march.... so the year was already 1/4 over till you knew how you were doing. My stores manager transferred beginning of the summer and left myself and my full timer for 2 months. No other help was offered other than my district manager saying to pull up our boot straps! This was a 1.8 million dollar commercial store with a cdl driver. Crazy summer and great money with OT. But not once was thanked by the district manager for covering the store. Thus the exit.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
