Pros

In every interaction, our commitment to patient advocacy shines through with compassion, clarity, and purpose. We consistently elevate the voices of those who need support the most, ensuring their concerns are heard and their needs are met with dignity. Our work doesn’t just fulfill a role—it transforms lives. By standing up for our patients and navigating complex systems on their behalf, we embody the true spirit of advocacy. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of making a meaningful impact every single day.

Cons

Across the board, this team continues to demonstrate what it means to operate with integrity, reliability, and excellence. From leadership to frontline staff, the consistency in performance, communication, and follow-through is evident—and deeply appreciated. There are no concerns to flag, only strengths to celebrate. This level of cohesion and dedication reflects a culture of accountability and care that sets a high standard for the entire organization. It's a powerful reminder that when everyone is aligned and committed, excellence becomes the norm.

Pros

Remote work, free health plan (it's a trash high deductible one but it's something)

Cons

Shields markets itself as a supportive, patient‑focused company, but the PSA role is the exact opposite. Training consists of learning the clinic software and workflows, followed by a few days of “shadowing” that is not structured, not monitored, and not actually helpful. The PSAs you shadow are so overwhelmed that after only a few hours they ask if you have other tasks you can work on because they’re too busy to train you. There *is* a ramp‑up period, but it’s extremely misleading. The workload is exactly the same as a fully ramped employee. The only difference is that you won’t immediately be put on a PIP for missing metrics. You are still drowning from day one, with no partner, no gradual transition, and no meaningful support. It seems irresponsible to do that to these clinics as well as the new employees. The workload is atrocious. Even when you meet goals, you will never catch up on clinic work. The point‑based metric system is deeply flawed and doesn’t give credit for huge portions of daily responsibilities, leaving you constantly behind, overwhelmed, and blamed for things outside your control. Management is nonexistent during clinic training. My manager was nice in conversation but had little to no follow though— no one‑on‑one recaps, no check‑ins, no audits, no follow‑up... no support. I repeatedly asked for help in our one-on- ones and was told over and over "this clinic should be able to be supported by one person". When I left, he asked what they “could have done differently,” which was ironic considering I had been asking for help the entire time. The culture is reactive, not supportive. Turnover is extremely high (I am the last of 4 leaving before or near the 90 day mark) — most people quit without notice — and leadership seems genuinely confused about why. The PSA role is a revolving door because the expectations are unrealistic, the workload is crushing, and the support simply does not exist. If you value your mental health, stability, or a functional work environment, avoid this role. It is fight‑or‑flight every single day.
