Pros

A lot of good people work at Shift Paradigm.

Cons

Quiet layoffs every few months during 2023. No merit adjustments or bonuses since last year. Aggressive outsourcing efforts - an entire North America-based QA team was laid off last year, and then slowly replaced with associates working in a time zone 12 hours away. This left gaps in coverage and caused strain on the teams that relied on QA. This is just one example. The executives have been ripping the copper piping out of the walls of a once-well performing company to keep it limping along. Let's see where this takes them.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand the concerns you have highlighted. However, there are a few areas where additional context may help to provide some clarity. We are not actively outsourcing North American jobs to India; we are simply adding staff in India to supplement our existing NA resources. Yes, we had to make some very difficult decisions to reduce some of our staff in North America earlier this year, but we have not rehired any of our eliminated positions in India. On October 16th, we announced that all employees below Director level were given their annual bonuses in their base salary. That means we added that amount to each employee's base salary instead of waiting for a bonus. On average, our employees have seen between an 8-10% increase in their base salary, which is much larger than we are seeing in our space. We are very excited to recognize and invest in our people this year in a meaningful way. We are a high-performing company in an incredibly volatile and complex market. We continue to look forward to what is ahead of us with new clients and stronger relationships with existing ones. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Lots of room to create your own structure and process. Respectful that employees are people. The organization actually cares about DEI, operationally, not just as lip service. Tons of opportunity for learning. Thoughtful CEO, who communicates clearly.

Cons

It is a difficult industry space for an org to enter, and I don't know anyone who does full service consultancy + agency particularly well. If you're gritty and you like creating your own structure, this can also be a pro.

Pros

You will be a fool to seek any pros here. It's not a decent workplace for people who want clear boundaries and hope to enjoy some work-life balance. These awful people will never respect the lines you draw.

Cons

The work expectations were ridiculously high. Employees were expected to be available 24/7, work on multiple projects, and meet client expectations while balancing poorly assigned deadlines. It was a struggle to show up every day when you knew they expected too much from you. It was exhausting to try to reason with the arrogant leadership that did nothing but pile horrible expectations. They also didn't give me enough room to grow. My learning stopped, and I was doing boring work for months. There was no career growth, either. Overall, it was a horribly frustrating experience, and I escaped before I could be trapped here for long.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that you felt overwhelmed and unsupported during your time with us. Your feedback about workload expectations, work-life balance, and development opportunities is taken seriously. We recognize that unrealistic deadlines and unclear boundaries can lead to burnout, and this is not the environment we want to create. Our new leadership is working to actively address these issues. Again, thank you for the feedback.
