While we generally do not respond to reviews, we felt it necessary to address this because these claims are contrary to our corporate culture. Our company’s number one priority is safety. Silgan Containers has consistently exceeded industry benchmarks for safety and it is our corporate culture to drive toward zero injuries as we promote safety among more than 3,000 employees across the United States.
Allentown is a brand new plant which began operating on June 1, 2017. We take great pride in showing-off our latest technologies and safety measures. We have had our most important customers participate in tours of this facility. Infestation is unacceptable and until this posting, we have not had any such complaint or allegation. All Silgan plants have a third party pest control company that makes visits monthly to conduct on-site inspections.
We make concerted efforts to engage employees by seeking their recommendations for everything from change in production processes to how management treats employees. In 2016 we conducted an employee survey among our salaried employees and asked for the respondents level of agreement toward this statement; “Silgan Container employees generally feel they are treated with dignity and respect.” Seventy-six percent of respondents overwhelmingly agreed with the statement generating a statistically more favorable rating than the industry benchmark of 67%.
While we do not claim to always be perfect in every unique situation, we do make it a matter of company policy to ensure there is NO DISCRIMINATION, HARASSMENT OR RETALIATION. In cases where there have been complaints of mistreatment, we fully investigate the claims to identify, correct and/or eliminate them.
