Pros
Pay is relatively high for the industry but is being cut each year.
Cons
This is a union shop, but the union is being weakened internally by management, and is essentially non existent. Management treats the employees like slaves, and asks them to carry out unsafe and unrealistic assignments. Management will ask you to break all rules, corporate policy and standard operating procedure to maintain production. If you don't do so, you will be reprimanded indirectly. -Management is downright hostile and has had physical fights with employees. -Shop stewards are not helpful and are also physically and verbally abusive. -Safety standards and equipment are not to spec, and management makes no attempt to resolve this. -Management interrogates employees - This is an equal opportunity employer, but some employees are more equal than others - You WILL be asked to perform dangerous, poor quality and repetitive laborious tasks to maintain the production line. - The plant is severely understaffed and you will be required to work 2-3 times harder than necessary to make up for this. Most employees are uneducated as well. - Plant temperatures can reach below freezing in the winter and over 110F in the summer -You WILL be ordered to falsify company documentation, which is grounds for termination. If bad product is reported and an investigation started, you will be held responsible, regardless of whether or not your superiors forced you to do so. - Quality documentation must be fabricated to maintain production requirements, and management will deny this, leaving you responsible in the event of defective product being discovered.
