Pros

It is still a relatively small company with plenty of cross-training opportunities--provided you have a willing manager. The company (at least pre-merger XM) is competitive when it comes to salary and benefits.

Cons

Unfortunately, the employee-friendly days of XM Satellite Radio have disappeared. Since the merger with Sirius, the "tone from the top" has changed markedly to a more Wall Street like atmosphere. Cold and impersonal - the team atmosphere has all but vanished. With the company's financial troubles, employees are expected to "work around" issues and duct tape together cheaper systems, but management expects the same enterprise-level performance from these bargain solutions.

Pros

Great work place with fun people

Cons

One of the biggest challenges is that most people start as part-time employees. Given the current state of the radio industry, there isn't much room for raises or upward mobility. In many cases, the only way to advance is to wait for someone else to leave so that a full-time position becomes available.
