Pros

Despite making baby/toddler products, Skip Hop grows faster than a teenager. For some, this may produce growing pains. But for anyone who can keep up (ie: those with youth or youthful energy), there are endless opportunities to wear many hats, be hands-on, learn new skills, try new software, make suggestions (tip: self-starters without too much ego do well here), lead, collaborate, and more. This place never felt corporate, stuffy, old-school, or too "layered." Anyone who has worked at bigger companies or older organizations will recognize and appreciate this. I truly love, like, respect and admire many of the people I worked with here. It was baptism by fire and I am still friends with many of them. Frankly, I might still work there if I was passionate about the product category. I learned a great deal here professionally, about myself, my work ethic, and my limits, and carry that knowledge with me. It's a great place to work and grow.

Cons

Addressing the cons others mention: Any office you ever work at has seemingly difficult people—but only a fool doesn't learn how to work with those people. Some of the reviews here UNFAIRLY single someone out and I will say only this: That person is not so "difficult" once you understand that they live under many pressures of their own, and when you take the time to understand their larger goals (It's hard to sweat the small stuff when you both get the big picture). Some people just think out loud and sometimes it's your job to hear what they are saying, filter what they are saying, make a list, and read it back to them to be sure you understand the big picture as well as the most important little things that are important to that person. Listening skills and intuition go a long way in working with people. Some people are introverts, some people are extroverts; we all communicate in different ways. If you understand yourself well, understand your communication style, and make the effort to understand the style of others, you can figure out a way to work and both get some of what you want. Life is a continuous negotiation and navigation!

Pros

The discount and you get to be innovative.

Cons

No matter how much work or extra roles you take on, it will never be enough to management. Communication is awful between departments.
