Pros

Smarsh used to be a fantastic place to work and grow! Previously, Smarsh was a rare find - collaborative culture, putting people first, open and honest communication, and doing the right thing for our customers and colleagues. Compensation and benefits were always just average, but it was worth staying because I was happy and passionate about my work, my direct management, and executive leadership.

Cons

The current c-staff are not good stewards of the company or focused on the long-term health of Smarsh. They will do whatever it takes to achieve the gross margin target to position the company to sell in the next few years. While Smarsh has gone through many acquisitions and changes in the past, Smarsh culture and long term success was always put at the forefront. Today, that is no longer the focus. While I understand its just business, it is heartbreaking to see the dramatic change. These goals could have been achieved while maintaining Smarsh's vitality. RIP Smarsh.

Pros

Smarsh isn't just building compliance software to help companies pass audits — we're genuinely reshaping how organizations think about the value of their communications data. There's a real vision here that goes beyond "check the regulatory box," and it's exciting to be part of a team that's actively working to unlock more value from the platform for customers, not just maintain the status quo. Leadership takes the industry-leader position seriously, and it shows in the roadmap and the energy around product innovation. If you want to sell something you actually believe matters, this is a good place to be.

Cons

As a PE-backed company, there was a period where the focus leaned heavily toward profitability and margin, sometimes at the expense of growth investment. It occasionally showed up in how much room there was to go after bigger opportunities or invest in new areas. That's shifted clearly and recently — the focus is back on growth, and it lines up well with the product vision and expansion mindset described above. It's a strong example of the company course-correcting in the right direction.
