Advancement opportunities are always there. You are not only given chances to grow, but also chances to create the roll you want to fill (and is most suited to your skills) Most of the time advancement is based on performance and demonstrated ability to take on more. Excellent culture with very little friction relative to other places people try to help each other not only do their jobs, but find the right fit and advance their skillsets excellent work/life balance for the most part *This is a fantastic place to start, you will pick up skills, but also learn how to grow as a professional. In many ways SmartZip teaches a lot of its employees 'how to adult'...regardless of age or experience. Thats a good thing
Cons
company has a fractured infrastructure. due to multiple resets (which are easy to judge in hindsight, but we're in a very volatile industry) there are a lot of holes and a lot of missing pieces in both process and vision Poor and often ineffictive communication from the top down. Things often come 'out of the blue' and the most important pieces are often left out...the why and the how. Lower level employees are left in the dark and this breeds division in the ranks due to people feeling that some departments are more important than others (a lot of efforts have been put in place to help reduce this and improve communication to be fair) Due to the company making a major shift in vision/focus you have a skelaton crew trying to maintain current business while also trying to branch into a new verticle (or at least a more effective application of our current one). The teams do the best they can on all sides, but this is where the communication issues tend to have the most impact due to increased workloads and the feeling of pressure. unequal dispersal of resources: Sales people who meet quota make a great living. Which is great, thats a production based job. Other departments (marketing, billing, support, etc) feel like they get the short end of the stick though because their roles don't have a direct revenue metric they can claim ownership of...so they have no way to gain additional income regardless of how hard (or effectively) they work. *not all cons necessarily can be fixed right away. There is a reality that this is a business, and when the business is in a transition, its hard to do all the things you may WANT to do, you can only do the things you can afford to do.
