      Not a great learning environment - Solutions Consultant Smartsheet Employee Review

      Pros

      The pay is good and you get bonuses. This is a fully remote role.

      Cons

      After going through their new hire onboarding program be prepared to learn everything on your own through documentation. No one supports your new hire journey after onboarding but they expect you to know the product and lead calls. You also have to go above or beyond your role duties to be considered a well performing employee. If you have a question or are stuck on a problem you’ll have to search support communications channels for hours. The environment is also micro managed your manager will be on most of your customer calls. There also very little diversity in teams.

      Pros

      - Remote work - Genuinely talented and collaborative individual contributors across data science and analytics - Interesting problem space with real product and customer data to work with

      Cons

      - BI leadership does not have hands-on data science experience, which showed in how projects were scoped, evaluated, and prioritized. - Lack of clear leadership direction for the data science function. Priorities shifted frequently, and long-term strategy was hard to pin down, which made it difficult to invest in impactful work. - Career development conversations did not match outcomes. In my case, a promotion was discussed and promised by the leadership, and I was laid off shortly after. Whether that reflects poor planning or poor faith, it left me questioning the integrity of the process. - Transparency around organizational decisions was limited, which eroded trust on the team.
