Pros

My position was new so I was able to make it into whatever I felt the company most needed. They are very trusting of their employees, especially when they prove themselves to be loyal to the company. They respect their employees' personal lives and allow additional time off if necessary. There is a once a month lunch, snacks are available every day, and the employees are great. I often found that I wanted to see them after the day ended, which I consider a plus if you enjoy the people you work with. Also, the office views are fantastic. Trust me, it's a pro to the job. Last, Blair makes a point to say hello every day. He likes to know what is occurring, but he isn't overbearing about this. In fact, he gives great advice or ideas into how that area of research could be navigated.

Cons

My job is isolating, so it's not a con to the company, but more for anyone considering this position further in the future. Understand that this position works more on your own and on occasion works with other employees. "On occasion" can be day to day, but in plenty of instances, it was weeks. It sometimes drove me crazy, but the research portion always kept me very busy. It was an entirely new line of work so there was always a new area of sign regulations to explore. Oh, and holidays. There just never seems to be enough in a year.

Pros

They have free snacks, tea, and coffee.

Cons

I worked at SmartSign briefly, and my experience was both frustrating and disappointing. From day one, management lacked direction. I was brought on as a security engineer but quickly realized they had no real plan for the role. I completed the project they assigned without any issues. Then, after leaving early one day for a doctor’s appointment (with notice), I was abruptly terminated the very next morning for "poor performance." There had been zero feedback, no concerns raised, and no expectations set—nothing. It felt like I was used to complete a one-off task, then discarded without justification. Whether it was retaliation for the doctor visit or just a pretext to cut costs, the way it was handled showed a complete lack of professionalism and integrity. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone seeking stability, support, or transparent leadership.
