Pros
The DC office location is great.
Cons
In the time that I worked at SmithBucklin, I grew increasingly disappointed in nearly every aspect of how they do business. Managers and supervisors do not know how to support their teams because they themselves are not supported. This company has a strong culture of passive aggression, manipulation and toxicity. They do not know how to train, project manage, or support upper level employees. They only know how to raise people from the ground up, which severely limits their productivity and prohibits them from hiring from the outside. I received zero support from my department or my supervisor, and any questions I asked were looked at with disdain and negativity. My onboarding was essentially being given the client name and being told "figure it out". Additional information was not given, and at one point, a lower-level colleague told me that onboarding or the provision of basic client information/project tracking isn't useful and that if it is required by a new employee, it means the person doesn't have critical thinking skills. This turned out to be an opinion supported by management. If you do come in at a lower level, you will stay there for years. They are sorely under-prepared for employee departures and make no effort to support new employees.
