Pros
Despite a relatively short tenure so far, my experience at SoFi has been consistently positive. The culture is supportive, collaborative, and focused on growth. Engineers are trusted with ownership, encouraged to think long-term, and supported by engaged managers and teammates.
My work has centered on infrastructure platform initiatives around infrastructure systems and automation, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and improving developer experience. There is space for thoughtful design and for building durable systems, not just shipping quickly.
From a company perspective, SoFi feels well positioned for continued growth, with clear strategic direction and momentum as the organization scales.
The company is remote-friendly and flexible, without a strict return-to-office mandate, while still maintaining opportunities for in-person collaboration when useful.
Cons
As with many scaling companies, some legacy processes and tooling introduce friction and can slow velocity. That said, these challenges are well understood internally, and there is active work to modernize the stack and improve developer workflows.
