Pros

It has taken me quite some time to think of any pros for working for a fortune 500 company, like Sonic Automotive. Unfortunately, I do not have a long list. The employee purchase plan is flawed, but overall helpful when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. If you enjoy the auto service industry, this is the perfect job for you.

Cons

Do you really want to know? First and foremost, the pay plans are absolutely terrible and disheartening! Most service advisors work 60+ hours a week and some times only bring home 3k a month. The pay plans are unpredictable, change constantly, and leave advisors wondering why they invest all of their time into a corporation that hardly compensate them for their hard work! It is sad to think the general managers of these Sonic owned dealerships are making 6 figures, while everyone else is living paycheck to paycheck. Secondly, if you work for sonic automotive, you will not have a healthy balance of work and your own personal time outside of work. Obviously, this is just the nature of the retail beast. If only the CEOs of this company actually cared about your wellbeing. Lastly, the benefits are not as good as they are made out to be. The health care plans are incredibly expensive and cover very little. Also, the turnover rate is unreal! There are new faces in these dealerships every month, therefore job security feels like a joke! We are the faces that all of the clients see! If we are not satisfied with how things are with Sonic, they will not be happy with our service. I wish the CEOs would believe in making their employees happy, instead of being overly greedy with all the money that we are making them!

Pros

Pay was decent for the work

Cons

Did not feel valued as an employee. Felt discriminated against for my age. Management showed favoritism towards certain employees of certain ages if their interests were similar to the general sales managers and those employees received special treatment
