Pros

Sony has an overall relaxed culture as compared with some of the other studios. In one sentence, it is a good place to stay for a few years as a foot in the door to the entertainment industry and to build up your skills but no long term prospects as a place to build your career. -Overall fair compensation (slightly above average for industry and overtime pay) -Good work life balance (depends on your department, there are some that you do work longer hours) -Office close between Christmas and New Years (on top of your vacation and paid holidays) -Name brand on your resume -Free movie screenings -Downtown Culver is a great area to explore and living in Culver is pretty cheap compared to other parts of LA

Cons

Despite the many perks unfortunately this is not a place you would like to stay to build your career, 2-3 years is enough to get some good experience and move on if you want to continue to grow. -Working as a financial analyst your work will get extremely repetitive after the first year -No opportunities for internal movement within the same department or ability to take on new projects that grow your skill set -In the same vein no opportunities for movement into other departments (have seen several friends try and were unsuccessful), and preference given to outsiders -Promotions often given to favorites and management often plays favorites in giving assignments and opportunities -Management/supervisors don't really "manage", act like senior analysts and quick to find scapegoats/point fingers when process breaks down or there are errors -Yearly pay increases are very minimal

Pros

- began work with an amazing team and culture - exposure to major IP and high-profile campaigns - some genuinely talented and passionate colleagues - fast-paced environment that builds skills quickly - healthcare is decent - some fun on-lot perks

Cons

- poor work/life balance exceptions from SPTV lower and upper management - unmanageable workload left little room for the collaboration and meeting engagement leadership expected - upper management changes resulted in reactive restructuring with little regard for team culture or continuity - inconsistent management: some leaders failed to empower or advocate for their teams - clear office politics which interfere with business decisions - quick burnout when management fails to course-correct workload - leadership set workloads based on personal work style rather than sustainable team norms - little to no growth opportunities - 4 days in office is excessive and unnecessary
