Engaged Employer

My experience at Southern California Edison was wonderful during the first 17 years. - Senior Material Handler Southern California Edison Employee Review

Pros

The company provided me an opportunity to learn and promote to various positions.

Cons

Management was not good at following the same expectations that were communicated to their employees. We were told to be ethical and have a questioning attitude. Our questioning attitude should include stopping work activity if we were unclear or uncertain if proceeding with the activity would have adverse results. I do not believe that management did their due diligence to ensure that the steam generators were tested correctly. Because of this, the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station has been permanently shut down. Over two thousand people lost their jobs and some lost their retiree benefits because they were too young to qualify even though they worked for the company for over 20 years. Some of my co-workers had 30 years of service and did not qualify for the retiree benefits because they started working for the company right out of high school.

Pros

Pay, they pay very well. Interesting work and SOME very sharp people.

Cons

The department I was in was very toxic. Company claims to be values based but that is a joke. The "leaders" in my OU were abusive and have been reported to HR multiple times by many people. Nothing was ever done. The entire company isn't toxic, its too bad that some of the areas are.
