Pros
decent pay that you dont need a degree for. Varied work environment if you are a district planner. Lots of internal training and options to make a career jump.
Cons
Cruel bosses that are also bad at their jobs. I was in 3 different locations, and my bosses were all incompetent or mean. At my last position people openly talked how the supervisor had been sued for misconduct multiple times, but he somehow stayed on. Supervisors from other districts would come to him when they had HR problems and there was an informal network of supervisors who would help each other when they had committed hr violations. Other positions had so much wasted effort and rework. I spent 1 year doing analysis on a project and writing reports. At the end of the year, all that data was thrown away because an error was found in the raw data I had been given.
