Pros

I get so excited as I drive into work. Coming off the 105 at Crenshaw, I see one of our flight-proven rockets standing proudly outside SpaceX headquarters, alongside the Tesla design studio. It seems like we break a world record every month, and I couldn't be more proud of the company or the role I play. Material planning is a high-profile, cross functional position that plays an integral role in ensuring we meet our launch schedule - which means that we have an open slate to do whatever is necessary to meet that launch schedule. From working with executives and helping a production engineer improve material flow, to developing strategic supply chains, make/buy decisions, managing inventory and WIP levels, there is so much to do, and everything we do directly impacts making SpaceX the leading rocket launcher in the world. If you're interested in a position that gives you free reign to innovate and improve where you see the greatest need, with minimal bureaucracy, this position is for you!

Cons

Everyone comes from different companies and backgrounds - I found the first three months very difficult to figure what is going on and how to communicate.

Pros

* **Unmatched Mission & Impact:** You are literally working on rockets and spacecraft. The cool factor is 10/10. * **Brilliant Coworkers:** You will be surrounded by some of the smartest, most driven engineers in the world. * **Insane Career Growth:** SpaceX on your resume is a golden ticket. You will learn more here in 3 months than in 3 years at a normal company. * **Hands-on Experience:** They actually trust interns with real, critical hardware. No boring coffee-fetching tasks.

Cons

**Cons:** * **Zero Work-Life Balance:** 70-80 hours a week is the norm, not the exception. Say goodbye to your social life and sleep. * **Extreme Burnout:** The "hustle culture" is toxic. You are expected to treat the company as your entire life. * **Mediocre Pay:** The hourly pay is average, especially when you factor in the insane hours and the high cost of living in LA/Hawthorne. * **Chaotic Management:** Decisions can change overnight based on whatever Elon Musk tweets or feels like doing that morning.
