Pros

Working in the SpeeDee Warehouse is simple and straightforward work, the other employees are easy to get along with, once in a while we get someone who is difficult but if you have a good attitude and stay out of the drama you are fine. The work is very physical and requires a lot of walking and movement, it can be the same thing every day or spells of something new each day, the variety of objects yet predictability of tasks are a good balance. It keeps it relatively interesting without becoming stressful. Fellow employees are happy to help you learn if you ask.

Cons

Currently, there is a severe lack of formal training for new people, there is one person who shows you how to sort but it isn’t enough. If you are not able to do the heavy, repetitive lifting and movements it will be hard on you. There can be some drama but if you mind your own business it isn’t an issue. As with most jobs, your attitude makes or breaks the experience. It can be very loud, the jacks, forklifts etc and the radio can be jarring for some, but we are allowed to wear an earbud with our own music choice while working. One thing I dislike is the lack of sunlight, we need a couple of windows, or at least to have a loading door left open for air flow and to see the day passing and get sunlight. If you have dust allergies be warned, the boxes and the containers they come in on and just things sitting in storage means there is a lot of dust in the environment.
