Pros

Spine Solutions 2 (S2) is an outpatient physical therapy clinic that specializes in workman’s comp injuries in the greater Albuquerque region. They have contracts and/or clients with some very large local entities such as the Albuquerque Public School system, Jaynes Construction, Albertsons Grocery, UNM medical, the local Film Industry and Los Alamos Labs, just to name a few. The staff here is experienced, empathetic, caring, fun and highly supportive to each other. I know my pay rate is better than I would get from most other outpatient clinics in Albuquerque. The patient load can be heavy and tight at times, just like many for profit outpatient clinics, but you get good support in managing your patient load. We have exercise techs for every therapist who not only runs your patients through their exercises & activities but sets the patients up for modalities as well. You also get a full hour lunch break. We get all major federal holidays off and PTO starts accumulating from the day you start and carries over to the next year. There is a nice bump in PTO hours in your second year and then a bigger bump up in your 5th year. There are also monthly individual bonuses for increased billing hours achieved, which is a significant addition to my regular pay. The clinic is very spacious with 2 main areas of focus. One side is focused on exercises for regular PT and the other side is for work simulation / functional activities in areas of construction, janitorial, medical and kitchen activities, just to name a few. We also have an OT hand specialist and hand station for hand injuries. The break room is a nice size with everything you need for your lunches. When we meet review expectations, they often buy lunch for us and sometimes it’s just because of our good work. Healthier snacks are also supplied in the break room. They are also putting in an outdoor picnic table for break time outdoors. I like that there are lots of windows to look out from and lots of plinths to work with both out on the floor and in dedicated rooms with doors. They cover a good part of your Medical Insurance as well, BCBS HMO Gold is what I picked. Casual Fridays are nice for a more relaxed clothes day and is our lightest day for patient loads. They have some work shirts with their logos on them that you can get or you can bring in any of your shirts to have the company’s logo embroidered on for free. We have company Christmas parties every year and occasional fun company outings like going to Isotopes games with your family included. Spanish speaking is definitely a plus and worth extra but is not necessary as many of the tech’s and Front Desk staff will translate for you. I do not speak Spanish and I get along very well with the tech’s help. S2 has literally thousands of highly rated patient reviews on the therapy that they received and we also get a ton of requests from people to have their therapy specifically with us, which I like to think speaks well of our quality of service and how well we all work together. Spine Solutions Physical Therapy & Worksite Strategies started in Santa Fe 15 years ago. They also have a stand along Los Alamos Labs clinic and the S2 clinic in Albuquerque that started in 2017, as I recall. S2 focuses on strong, comprehensive and attentive physical therapy to help injured employees recover from their injuries so that they can get back to their work as soon as appropriately possible and gain back their livelihood for themselves and their families. I know that I am in a good, supportive place that recognizes my good work and rewards me for that, along with all the other employees here. I’ve been here for 2 years and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. It’s a good fit with honest, fun and positive people. They train well and are very supportive and patient in adjusting you to the S2 vibe. You could do much worse elsewhere.

Cons

The patient load can be heavy and tight if you have no cancellations. Back to back patients every 30 minutes with an average patient stay of 90 minutes is a bit much, but you get good support in managing your patient load. We have exercise techs for every therapist who not only runs your patients through their exercises & activities but sets the patients up for modalities as well. You also get a full hour lunch break. They don’t seem to mind light overtime either. There are few outpatient clinics that don’t try to run you like a workhorse with patient loads but at least this place gives you the support you need with good perks.
