Pros
Famed company, good benefits, some good and talented people, cool PR campaign
Cons
Outside of the backstabbing, cliquey and unprofessional culture, lack of transparency, lack of career advancement, stealth layoffs, lack of direction and strategies, horrible HR and middle management, bullying, and soon-to-be-out-of-date technology and content, It's really important to know that you will feel very out sync if you are not a "flaming" alcoholic. The amount of drinking and slurred speech in meetings (all hours), is astounding. I was beyond shocked when my management team presented three hard liquor "prized" choices for asking questions or answering questions to about 80+ of us in an off-site meeting at 8AM, let me repeat that 8AM, as in IN THE MORNING. Most of them already visibly drunk. And my own direct report was actually holding a glass of gin and tonic already before we even start the lineup of speakers from each team... I knew then that my days there would be numbered because this is NOT OK. And of course, the company and its behaviors and decision-making proved that I was right. The culture of fear, anxiety, insecurity, nepotism, aimlessness and incompetence will get to you eventually. Don't be fooled by the orange and pink slick ads. This place has no soul and is filled with a lot of miserable people. I actually feel sorry for these people. You don't just choose to be a team of alcoholics. They live such sad lives and gravitate towards people who are just as miserable as they are. If you are not like this, you need to stay clear from this company. You will find yourself wondering if it's just you. NO it isn't. It's this dark vibe with these people who are fearful and lost. You will need to get a therapist as part of the tools you need to be able to work here. And if you are already here, take care of yourself by start looking for a way out. There are plenty of places that has substance and not just a big lie filled with psychologically unhealthy people who have no regards for you, your career, or the company's best interests. They are just sticking around to retire in a few years. Watch out for those. Just imaging how many business and people decisions have been made and will be made in this company behind closed doors with a whole group of people who have seriously drinking problems and brought them to work everyday. More lawsuits are coming I am sure. You can only keep this going for so long.
