Recruiters are extremely shady - during initial conversation, recruiter stated that the base salary range for the role was between X and Y, which was in my range so I agreed to proceed. Went through entire interview process and received offer letter, the base salary offered was 10% less than X. I counter offered at 10% above what was offered (hey, at least they would match X, right?) - nope, just received a "management does not want to spend more $ on this role" message after being ghosted initially. If this is how the cheerleaders of the company treat prospective employees, I am terrified as to how the real management of the company treat their employees. At least I dodged a bullet.
