Pros

Fast pace... decent tips (when I get them) not technically difficult. A few good clients. Learning experience. For the most part.

Cons

They pay your credit card tips out on your check it's up to the franchisees they have you on ridiculous time limits they set very high goals that are unattainable your pay the sliding scale in the goals are over 2 week average and it's impossible to keep those goals up for two weeks consistently very stressful there are girls I work with that have been doing hair for 20 years that have excellent experience and good clientele and they can't even meet the minimum goal to make $10 an hour I was told it's so easy you don't even have to worry about making under $10 an hour the goals are just there's no way you're not going to hit them yeah I have not hit them one time they expect you to do haircuts in 15 minutes I was actually told to stop putting a so much detail in my work to do a basic haircut nobody can get mad about as quickly as I could do it I've met every go across the board except for the 15-minute haircut time I've been doing hair for 8 years and I'm there making $9 an hour and I get to take home about 10% of my tips every day because they keep all your credit card tips and pay on your check probably the most difficult stressful job I've ever had in my life I would not recommend anybody work there the owners are not hairdressers they have never had any Salon experience they have no idea what they're doing and when you give away 35000 free haircuts in a small town you cannot make any money because people tip zero on a service they got for free it probably would not be such a terrible job if the owners of the particular one that I work at weren't so worried about haircut times and we're a little more worried about customer satisfaction they also decided that they could write customer satisfaction through an online survey only about 50% of the people take so even though I have a 70% client return rate apparently 50% of my customers are happy when I started there I was working 45 hours a week I was breaking my back 13 hour days because we're short-staffed I gave them everything I could give them and I don't get so much as a thank you I get good job can you hurry up stop stalking your clients don't tell people that we expect gratuity well then you should probably pay your staff better so that we're not starving and we don't need gratuity I didn't go to college pay $ $15,000 for an education to make $9 an hour and not be allowed to let my customers know that we accept gratuity I think it's pretty common knowledge that are supposed to tip your hairdresser I have never one time had to redo I have countless return clients that request me by name wait for me for hours and this is a bad thing according to Sport Clips we should all be uniform and any customers should be able to go to any stylist that and how it works in this industry my boss actually called it assembly line haircuts this is the man that owns the place said maybe an assembly line haircut place isn't for you absolutely it's not but unfortunately these big salons are putting small ones out of business

Pros

Health Insurance and 401k definitely help. A lot of hairdressers are moms and some of them single moms, so these benefits help a lot! My team leader and area manager are amazing at helping and keeping me feeling good about how I'm doing.

Cons

none, I have to say, if you're willing to work and make something of yourself and want to work for a great company that will recognize that. This is the place to be!

Pros

No pros beside it being a paycheck

Cons

Wasn’t allowed to have colored hair as a stylist, franchise owners in Arizona push their conservative beliefs on employees, didn’t even allow facial piercings, as time goes by and I’m working at an amazing salon and being treated for what I’m worth, being valued and paid an actual living wage, being allowed to express my individuality, being able to finally find somewhere where I’ve been able to blossom in my 8 years of hairdressing, I’m realizing just how awfully sport clips treats their employees, absolute joke of a wage for the productivity, work, and hours they expect, started here fresh out of beauty school and was constantly undermined, a lot of workplace bullying, favoritism, outcasting stylists that didn’t fit the perfect Sportclips “ideal.” Unless you want to be a slave to Sportclips, and constantly told cut faster cut faster sell more sell more and creating an uncomfortable experience for the stylist and client, making it feel like a sales job, it’s such an outdated way to operate, to hit numbers for the commission you’d have to sell like a car seller and do 10-15 minute haircuts for hours on end. don’t work here. Not to mention the average tip clients leave is 5-7 while you get a minimum wage hourly. Just a spit in the face.
