Pros
You're empowered to do whatever you need to serve a customer. I haven't been in a job with this much latitude and ownership before. It feels satisfying to be able to directly deliver something useful to a customer and see their joy on the tail end of it. And to be able to do that in a very fast paced environment. The team is really motivated and some of the smartest people I've ever worked with, so I feel I learn from them everyday. People are willing to stop what they're doing and help / teach you, which could be extra crucial at Spot AI [see con below]. I like the mission-driven nature of the company and our societal role in reshaping customer perception around video surveillance to be something more than just security.
Cons
Things are unstructured and very poorly documented. So almost always you need to make your own structure and create your own documents about systems and processes. It was annoying at first, but I have begrudgingly gotten used to it. Work is spiky - when there are fires to fight, it's all hands on deck and I lose an evening. It's hard to predict when the spikes are, but thankfully they are relatively rare.
