Pros
Pros: Nice Chairs Cool Office Most of the non-old guard employees are truly good people Health Care is 100% covered
Cons
Cons: Oh boy where do I begin? Once the honeymoon phase has passed you begin to see the business for what it really is, a cult. They built it by hiring a foundation of tons of midwest kids fresh out of college who were easily indoctrinated and readily drank the kool-aid by the pitcher. 45 Hours is considered a light work week here and remote work is a non starter…….unless its after hours or on the weekend when it is highly welcomed and even encouraged. The micromanagement is rampant throughout the company. Most of the management have spent the majority of their careers at spreetail and therefore keep their fingers in too many cookie jars to ensure that things are run to their narrow vision. Lets also discuss their constant push for “frugality” where they browbeat you over almost any purchase , yet throw large company meetings at rented ballrooms every quarter, always followed by a fully catered dinner and open bar. Also a yearly trip where they fly the entire company (600+ strong now) to a destination for 4 days. Totally frugal. The non-healthcare benefits are smoke and mirrors. Its proven in studies unlimited PTO results in less time taken because there are never any “use it or lose it” deadlines to prompt scheduling of it. Combined with the fact that whenever you finally separate , voluntarily or otherwise, they do not have to worry about paying a lump sump for accrued PTO. The house benefit? No one lasts that long. The SARs ? A Byzantine scheme of excel spreadsheets and KPIs designed to shock and awe and make you think they sound awesome. The CULTure as you’ve seen referenced in other reviews is very real. They are a big proponent of “Radical Candor” which in and of itself is just an excuse to be unkind to people directly without fear of consequence. However what happens much more frequently is people will smile to your face but talk to your boss and complain when they don’t like you. They send you on a retreat with a sort of motivational speaker where it is strongly encouraged (not verbally mind you, but very much wink, nod and nudge style) to divulge extremely personal history. I could go on but I think the reviews here of the last 6-8 months speak to themselves. Not coincidentally this is when they started expanding hires to people other than fresh doe eyed midwestern college grads. People who have actually worked elsewhere are able to see through the garbage and not just chug the Kool-Aid.
