Pros

This company is a collection of many acquired firms, which have some great people and projects.

Cons

1. Buildings practice leadership in the US has a track record of incompetence and inexperience. Almost all of the business leaders are not registered professionals. 2. Unethical behavior was at times, not only tolerated, but covered up. 3. Not enough due-diligence when selecting leadership after acquisitions. Many people that were put into positions were as a result of negotiations to "close a paper deal" vs. qualifications. 4. Their internal statement of "we put people first" couldn't be further from the truth. They put their shareholders first as well as their senior administration. 5. Stantec has a decent reputation in Canada, but has made a poor first impression in the US. Those that leave discover that the brand is much worse to the community. 6. Because of the companies marginal reputation, top talent could not be brought in organically but only through a large payout of a new acquisition.

Pros

You will be working with great minds. People have their niches expertise and it’s wonderful to learn from them. Very professional and respectful behavior. Doesn’t feel like other consulting firms where you’re worked like a dog.

Cons

Sometimes it’s hard to build consistent work because people tend to hold on to their projects rather than transferring to junior staff and it’s mainly because the pressure to be billable is high.
