Pros

While the CEO has taken a step back from the day to day in recent years, I do believe he genuinely cares about his employees. Longer term employees (+5 years) or individuals who haven't really had much experience outside of StarTech.com tend to take the 'perks' for granted. There are fair bonuses paid for quarterly performance, end-of-year bonuses paid around the holidays, regular celebrations, lunches, swag (jackets, water bottles, dessert days, etc...) but people always seem to be complaining. Employees are given the opportunity to further their education with the financial support of the company. Solid recognition system that uses "Achievers" and each employee is given a budget each month with which to reward colleagues. Paid time off to spend time in the community. Plus a generous community donation to the United Way both on behalf of the company but also out of pocket by Paul Seed. Benefits, RRSP, Vacation are in-line or better than similar size companies. There are a lot of opportunities to make StarTech.com a great place to work, but it is up to the individual to ask and pursue those opportunities. Some employees tend to feel entitled and expect that them showing up from 9-5 warrants an exorbitant amount of recognition & reward.

Cons

- Communication is inconsistent throughout the organization - Colleagues can sometimes feel entitled and whiney which is draining on the morale of those who want to work and contribute and thrive in challenging environments. - My advice to employees is, if you're truly unhappy coming to work every day, please go find something else to do. Life is too short to be miserable.

Pros

Less than 500 employee organization that is growing and has a lot of employees who've been with the company for >10yrs. Very inviting, friendly, and open to new perspectives.

Cons

As a small growing company some processes are WIP, but this also allows the opportunity to help shape the direction going forward.
