Pros

moderately competitive pay Fellow employees are all great people (but they're slowly quitting due to the direction of the company.)

Cons

Way too much micro management, and the metrics are absurd. At the end of each day, i have to write how many times I got up from my computer, what i was doing, and how long it took. i.e.- "two trips to the bathroom. 10 minutes. 3 trips to the copier, 5 minutes. 3 trips to colleagues desk to ask questions, 15 minutes." They even have a software to track how long your mouse stays still, so they can track that you're actually working. Absolutely maddening. Also they have now implemented a "Point" system. You have to clock in physically like the old-school industrial age laborers. So, If you are late ( Or early) more than 5 minutes, you get a point. At different increments (5 points, 7 points, 10 points etc.), you get written up. The insane part? The system actually makes it to where if you are going to be late to work, it is BENEFICIAL to you to just not show up because you get punished less. OH and you get 20 days you can ask off for, but you have to ask off A YEAR in advance. I had to ask off for 2018 in November of 2017, and unless you've been with the company for 30+ years, don't expect any time off during major holidays. The people who have been here for years are being treated like entry level employees and are not trusted to do their jobs on their own. There are people whose retirements rely on their pensions that State Farm gives them, and it's getting bad enough that they're quitting after 20+ years of service. That should speak volumes.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
